Barcelona wouldn’t be the incredible city and ever-popular tourist destination that it is today without its beautiful buildings and the work of the architects who designed them.
Sure, we’ve all heard of Gaudí and it would be impossible to wander the streets of Barcelona without stumbling across one of his beautiful masterpieces, but what about the more recent architecture and unsung architects redesigning the city for the modern age?
Mesura is one of the latest architecture firms bringing new life to the city and its surroundings.
They call themselves Partners in Architecture and are a team dedicated to creating excellence and exceeding the expectations of each and every client.
With residential, retail and public space projects always on the go they have loads of experience across the board in creating beautiful spaces.
Here are just some examples of their work:
Starting off with their work right here in BCN are the fantastic ‘Borne Apartments’. This is a set of four gorgeous tourist residences. The specification was to uncover and retain the original and charming aspects of the buildings whilst ensuring that each apartment remains unique and individual.
We think they’ve done an incredible job of keeping the property’s original characteristics whilst updating the design and style for the 21st century.
Of course, we already live in Barcelona, but it’d be worth being a tourist for a week just to stay at this place!
This project is situated in the stunning medieval town of Sant Mori, between Figueres and Girona, just north of Barcelona.
The goal with this project was to rework a previous extension in order to recuperate the views that had been lost and make the property more liveable on a daily basis.
The owners had been using it only during the summer months and as a weekend retreat but wanted to spend more time there.
The building has now been opened up to nature, with the old kitchen being restored and given a new lease of life, open to the beautiful steeped garden.
Mesura have turned this summer house into a year-round home and we absolutely adore it!
Now for something a little different.
In the charming medieval town of Peratallada in Baix Empordà is its beautiful castle, made up of a series of buildings and a courtyard. Mesura was asked to build a garden with a terrace for a relaxing holiday retreat housed in a small villa.
This they have done wonderfully, installing a luxurious swimming pool with the original castle facade as a backdrop. This part of the project was finished in 2016 but there is still more to do. Mesura has designed beautiful new interiors for the surrounding buildings.
We can’t wait to see what the whole thing will look like all together…its going to be magical!
That’s all folks! You’ll have to take a look at their website to see more.
