Halloween 2016 Barcelona – Although Halloween is not technically a Spanish or Catalan tradition, Halloween has been embraced in Spain and Barcelona in quite a big way. There will already be a lot of Halloween parties on the days before the 31st and of course on Halloween night at all popular Barcelona clubs like Pacha, Opium Mar club, Shoko club and Sala Apolo Club to name just a few. A lot of hotels also offer Halloween dinners. Also a Mexican tradition that arrived in Barcelona called “Ruta de Altares” (the Altar Route) is getting more and more popular . Various altars with different themes and dedications are created in memory of the departed and can be found in bars, shops and galleries all around Barcelona. On the first of November there is a public holiday called Todos los Santos (All Saints) or Tots Sants in Catalan. Here you can enjoy a Catalan tradition called La Castanyada and a lot of people attend church services in honor of Catholic saints and martyrs and also to visit family graves to place flowers, wreaths and candles.
